Any mineral surface floor can be treated to make it slip resistant. This will include marble, polished marble, granite, polished granite, porcelain, polished porcelain, ceramic, terrazzo and travertine. By using a slip resistant floor treatment, home owners and business owners can help to prevent slip and fall accidents.
Every stone surface is different. Slip Resistant Solutions, we believe that it takes a different product to treat different surfaces. For example, a product that will treat the quarry tile in a restaurant kitchen is much stronger than the product that will treat a polished porcelain tile. The product needed to treat concrete will be much stronger than any other product. In fact, we believe that the product to treat concrete is too hazardous for the public to use.
Using a product that is too harsh on polished marble, polished granite or polished porcelain will result in poor appearance. The stone surface may have less shine or it may have streaks if it is treated with too harsh of a product. We have made a specific product for these highly polished surfaces that will keep the beautiful finish while providing safety.
The product that is used in commercial kitchens like hospitals, restaurants and or nursing facilities is a very porous tile usually called quarry tile. This tile usually has a coating of grease from the cooking greases. The product that we use on these floors is stronger and will remove the coating of grease as well as providing an etching to the surface that will restore the original slip resistant conditions.
We also have a middle grade product that will treat several floor types. This product is one that will treat ceramic tile, terrazzo, travertine and unpolished porcelain. This is the one that is our best seller.
There is a fine line between safety and appearance when it comes to floor surfaces. Some people call and say that they don’t care if their floor is shiny because all they want is safety. Others call and say that the appearance of their shiny tile is very important to them. We make every effort to help our customers pick the right product for their situation and floor types.
The amount of treatment is also controlled by the length of time that the treatment is actually on the surface. Taking the time to test a small, out of the way area to determine the correct amount of time to treat will help to achieve the appearance that you want as well as the safety.
